Manual & Automatic Lessons

What is best for me, manual or automatic?

If for 1 minute we put aside the car you are thinking of driving once you pass your practical test and think about ALL the cars that you might drive in your lifetime, could you say without question that you will NEVER have a need to drive a car with a “Manual” Transmission / Gearbox.

What happens if you own an automatic car and need some work doing in a local garage, most garages will offer you a courtesy car whilst they work on your own, however only a few will have the facility to offer you an automatic.

Restrictions: Automatic

Learning and passing your practical driving exam in an Automatic car will result in the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) issuing you with a restricted licence, allowing you to only legally drive an automatic car and thus confining your driving flexibility in the years to come.

What’s more if you find your needs alter and you do want to drive a car with a manual transmission you will need to retake your practical exam in a manual car costing you more money for the exams and lessons.

Your Choice

If you learn and pass your driving exams in a car with a “Manual transmission” the DVLA will issue you a full licence with NO restrictions allowing you to drive both types of transmission, giving you the power to decide what transmission your first car will have.
